Your colon self-cleanses. It is called taking a shit.

All the pics of "residue" left there and flushed out are parlour tricks using things like benonite clay etc . Google it.

I have had several colonics over the past 8 years. They were all worth while.

Those of us old enough to be getting colonoscopies will have experience with true purges (4 litres of Klean Prep!), since the doc needs you to be completely empty in order to see any small polyps (or worse). I've had the (very) occasional enema and yes, there is a "stimulating" element to them. I suppose colonics are like that, maybe more so. But, I think the putative health benefits of enemas, colonics and dietary "purges" are nonsense. You want to purge? Exercise and drink lots of water. You want regular bowel movements? Eat more fibre. Your bowel is self-cleaning if you treat it right.
The pre-colonoscopy purge is definitely not fun. You drink 4 litres of unpleasant-tasting fluid, then spend two or three hours shitting. But the health benefit, in that it's prep for a scope bowel exam, is proven. You really don't want bowel cancer in your life and the best prevention is a regular colonoscopy to find and remove any pre-cancerous polyps. I say that since my father is stage 4 bowel cancer. He was one of those who kept saying "something's not right down there" and left it years too late. If you're 50 or over, every 5 years, get your doctor to set it up for you. I go to the Rudd clinic in downtown Toronto and would recommend it.

On the serious side yes I've done a herbal colon cleanse. 4 weeks. Cleaned me out, there was a lot of gunk in there. Should be done once per year followed by a liver and gall bladder detox.

i once had to take my dad to the doctor because he was having digestion and bowel movement issues. In the doctor's office, the doc told me he had to inspect my dad and I could wait outside if I wanted. Being the good son, I though to myself I can stay in here.. i'm the son after all. I wish I hadn't. The doc put on a pair of rubber gloves, and got to work on my dad's butt. The images and the smell ... oh gawd! I have newfound respect for the work these doctors do xDD

scam... eat healthy, eat fiber, drink water.... your body cleanses itself. infact by disturbing the natural enzymes & bacteria in your colon may be more harmful

Could you please offer more info on the gall bladder detox?

The colon doesn't "self cleanse". It should, but in practice for most of us it doesn't.

I get colonics on a semi-frequent basis. Used to be every 6 weeks, now it's more like every 3 months.

I'm quite active with various holistic treatments (RMT, acupuncture, craniosacral) and I'm eat healthy and do a lot of yoga/etc.

But I would say that the best way to feel 200% better for under $100 is to get a colonic. I recommend the "Yellow Brick Road" at Spadina/Dupont (google it).

Yes it does. It's called a bowel movement. Your colon is "clean" unless you have an actual illness or cancer, in which case real (western) medicine can help. In most cases a colonic won't harm you, and if you enjoy it go for it. But don't ever think it's something you actually need.

If you need stool softener I recommend Magnesium tablets $7.00 from health stores, cleans out well.:thumb:
Even better than Magnesium, a natural laxative called Metamucil does the trick. You need to take it for a few days and trick plenty of water.
