I know you're a newbie and all, but think about it for a second. There are lots of SPs out there. Correspondingly (from a pure economics perspective) there's lots of demand for SPs. So clearly, lots of hobbyists are seeing lots of SPs.

And yet, society hasn't come to a screaching halt. STDs aren't rampant. And come to think of it, you could get herpes by shaking someone's hand but how many times does that happen?

As a group, SPs are some of the cleanest, healthiest people I know, Generally they take better care of themselves than a lot of people do because of what they do.

It's understandable to be a little weary / nervous when you're starting off in the hobby. But just practice safe sex and you'll be fine.

Sure... stds, rrsp's, room fees, LE, traffic, storm warnings, work,
LF's birthdays, neighbour's wife, assholes I bumped into earlier on the day... the whole deal. I'm not kidding here.

When I started out....and I'm still a NUB, I was a bit hesitant at first as well, but I havent had any problems with meeting SPs so far. In fact I would have to agree with xarir, these sps do seem to take better care of themselves than some people I have met, or have had the pleasure to talk to.

This may sound completely weird, but it has been my experience that practicing safer sex is easier as an SP. Guys that see me know up front my rules and there is never any negotiation about using a condom. The other aspect is most of my clients are married - so they want to be super safe to make damn sure nothing happens.

Yet, when I have seen guys in my private life there's always resistance to them using condoms - which always leads to me getting pissed off and kicking them out of my bed/house (I can't stand pathetic excuses why they can't use condoms).

I'm also much more aware of STDs and my body now. I get tested more frequently than I ever have in my private life and happily have come back clean every time. From my selfish money standpoint - my body is my paycheck.... I am going to do everything in my power to keep getting that paycheck coming.

Good points, Sabryna.
Many times during dating, vast quantities of alcohol are involved which affects safe sex decisions for both parties.
This is less likely with escorts.

Why is this question always asked????? Somewhere people have it in their head that SP's are a secret code word for STD. As pointed out, most SP's are more aware of STD's and take better and more careful care of themselves.

Anyone can have an STD. A doctor, a lawyer, a police officer, an accountant, a bouncer, a banker, the list can go on and on. The point of protection is to always use it because ANYONE can have an STD and you could be one sexual encounter away from getting one yourself.

What is sad is people will use protection during this hobby but as soon as they get out to the bar, they get some BBFS from a one night stand. Please get a clue.

I wouldn't have unprotcted sex with anyone. Look how easy it is to cheat on your partner{this is meant in every day life, not directed to married men who use this industry}, so look how easy it is for your partner to cheat on you. You hear it all the time. People bring home a STD to the loved one. I know many will disagree, or maybe many will agree but not follow. ALWAYS use protection in and out of this hobby.

how about the STD's like HPV (genital warts) or Herpes .. which can be passed on unprotected and without any visible signs

further to that, unless you have a breakout.. you cant be tested

even if you dont have a breakout or if its a very mild one, even just skin to skin contact can transfer these.

the only way to combat these is to limit sexual partners. when hobbying, its like a big chain reaction. sleeping with one SP , even if it is protected, is totally increasing your chances way up of catching these types of STD's. same applies for picking up a random girl at a bar. no argument there.. but I would like to think that, based on their profession, an average SP has slept with more guys than an "average bar goer" . maybe I'm wrong tho.

given all that, dont you think that there is a higher risk with respect to these particular types of tests?

You might be in for a nasty surprise sometime down the road if you are a hobbyist and just once have a BBBJ or DATY on an SP with NO signs at all, and at some point down the road.. be it days or months or years.. transfer that to your significant other

thoughts or comments?

Aren't we righteous?

Here here Sabryna. I understand and agree with your statement completely.
There was a thread about the Female Condom a little while back and I don't recall reading any enthusiasm from the ladies that time. I think a couple of girls vowed they'd never use them even in their private lives. Sound familliar?

Personally, I'm terrified of STD's and that has limited me to Stripjoints. In a couple of experiences with SP's I've only let them get me of with their hands & thighs because I find condoms such a hassle. It's not a mere inconvenience for everyone: having a thick penis with a fleshy shaft it can be a real chore to roll the condom down. Half the time it kills the erection. If I jack off a couple of times, the erections will be smaller but not hard enough and the ring bites in behind the head.

I was very lucky my GF's in the 90's were into lots of alternative ways of cumming (oral and mutual masturbation) because if we had to wrestle with that rubber more than once a week, I'd have lost intrest in sex. When I do give in and see an SP again, it would be for a bbbj. Until I get the courage, I'd rather have a lapdance than a CBJ.

I personally do not use the Female Condom and will probably never use it. I tried out polyurathane (sp?) condoms and found they break really really easily (I tried them out on dildos never a live person) - seeing as Female Condoms are made of the same material...I'm not willing to risk it.

I understand that condoms are annoying, frustrating etc....I keep a variety of condoms available for gentlemen of all shapes and sizes. The larger gentlemen I've seen have used the large size condoms I have without a complaint or trouble (many times they ask what brand it is and where to get them).

Yes, I see many gentlemen....of those I have had protected sex with each and every one of them. I have never had a condom break (I test every brand I use prior to using them in 'real life'). I have never tested positive for any STD .... and both HPV and Herpes can be tested for without lesions (they are in the bloodstream and are detected that way). To further protect myself .... I'm about to get a Hep. vaccine as another way to safe guard myself.

As HH said.....despite the fact that I (and others here) are SPs we are not dirty, riddled with STDs or lax about the way we protect ourselves.

I didn't know they broke so easily! Too bad, I was thinking of trying those next time I experiment. Another nasty aspect of latex is after I use one, both the genitals smell & taste like it, so it's not appealing to go for seconds.

Which model of condoms do you find easiest to get on guys who are kind of thick and uncut? All of the "large" ones boast comfort for length, but I don't need that since I only top out at '7 (these days more often '6 1/2). What I want is something that feels looser to put on.

Once in a while it would roll down with no problem, when that's the case I didn't mind using it for intercourse since I'm sensitive, but for oral it took away from the pleasure. At one point, troubles putting it on psyched me out to where I'd go soft just from looking at one. In a sense, loathing of condoms and fear of STD's has made it easier to go cold turkey the past four years, but I'm not handling it well anymore.

Of course the STD risk is higher with SPs

This is one of the most important issues on this forum.

A member asked whether you can catch a STD from a SP. Great question. Many of the people who responsed said it's not a problem, or you're less likely to catch something from a SP than from Jane Public. They are either in denial, wishful thinkers, misinformed, uneducated, or just plain stupid.

Sorry, I don't mean to be insulting, but come on. Of course SPs and guys who indulge are more likely to catch a bug. If a girl is with 5 guys a day, 5 days a week, she has been exposed to 100 potential STD carriers every month. Now multiply that by the number of SPs those 100 guys have been in contact with. And now multiple by all the partners of all those SPs. It's like the commercial, "I told two friends, and they told two friends".

They're called Sexual Transmitted Diseases because you get them from sexual contact. And the more sex each partner has had, the more likely you'll be infected. So for God's sake, don't kid yourself. Sure, have fun, get your kicks, but this hobby is not without its risks.

Any thoughts?

The best response I've had for larger condoms are Trojan Magnum - they are a good fit and the guys I've asked about them (yes - I'm a little market researcher) have said they are comfortable. There are some other Trojan large size condoms out there which I tested with one larger guy (about 8 and thick - for a point of reference) and he said he couldn't tell the difference between the Magnum and the others (I think they were Max or Ultra Max) so for value I went with Magnum.

I also find the Trojan Thins are really good too especially for oral (although yes the latex taste is gross). I'm trying to find a good condom for oral that tastes reasonable.....although O'My flavoured lube does help.

I bought a pack of Avanti which I tried on an average sized dildo (about 6" and medium thick) and found that they fit small and broke with very little effort. Thus I never tried them out on a live person.

As HH said - you can catch an STD from anyone. Many of the SPs who responded are not what I would classify anything close to stupid.....we are well educated, aware of our bodies and know how to protect ourselves. Yes, this is a high risk profession and no not every SP out there may be as diligent about protection as others.

Now...for another little tidbit from the CDC:

[font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]At least 50 percent of sexually active men and women acquire genital HPV infection at some point in their lives. By age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV infection.

That is the general population.....not hobbyist & SPs.....that means both men and women regardless of who you go to bed with have a 50/50 chance that the person they are sleeping with has HPV. This is just one of the reasons why I protect myself so diligently - I don't know who my clients have been sleeping with :)

Actually, I learned that trick late in the singles game..... but part of me (yeah the bitch part) thinks it is the principle of the matter. I do have fun with it though - guys get to hear all about my bountiful fertility and desire for a large family....my allergy to the pill.....and more
