I tried that Perfect Patch stuff from Rona (Walmart had it too) and it worked pretty well. I even dumped some of the seed mix on a patio stone, and it did grow on the concrete stone as advertised - it was pretty funny actually.

The grass sprouted up in a few days and after a week, it was already needing to be cut. It was a bit patchy in place and I had to reseed it a second time to fill in the gaps, but it grew FAST!!!! My only complaint is that the grass seems to be a lighter colour and it's a much finer blade of grass. But it was quick and painless.
