yeah Russia's visa rules are insane, having been there twice and lived for over a year there myself, hobbying advice stay away from Night Flight, big time scam, the Boarhouse is an excellent pick up joint for sp's on friday and Saturday nights
Moscow is great I was there a few yers ago, back then you had to be really careful with your US cash for hobby or other below the radar purchases. They cataloged you cas going in and you had to keep your official receipts for all exchanges to rubles, it was coded to your passport.
Amazing place though,sat in a Tex-Mex bar beside Red Square drinking imported beer ( kind of surreal) watching the girls. Damn , memories. My buddy and I concluded that there were just so many A-class females around that it was almost like they had a rule. Less han gorgeous girls are not allowed in the tourist areas.
It was a great experience, will go back again. That is where we went to fly the MiG29 which was admittedly better than hobbying.

Don't laugh, genuine American jeans were like gold when we were there. Take small waist sizes, average girls are a lot thinner then in NA.
Also baseball caps from NHL teams with favourite Russian players, and oddly enough at the time we went our US based tour operator said Toronto Blue Jay caps at that time were a sought after item. Probably not now, but try to find out the av.
A $25 Cdn hat purchase was as good as $50 US cash.

I am sure you can negotiate a price with a gal for a week from the Boarhouse, most are university students looking for some easy cash with their insanely hot tight young bodies, as for internet cafes there is one at the Okhotny Ryad mall just near Red Square, excellent computers at speeds you are use to here and the staff, some of are young juicy girls all speak excellent English. We need a report my friend, Moscow despite its problems and pressures is still one of my favorite places on earth.

As for hobbying, if the russian wives websites are any indication, you will have your hands full with all the hotties.
I've also always considered flying there just to see what the wife finding tours were all about. I saw a program on the tube about it and there was like 8 guys in a disc filled with 120 hotties. My kind of place lol.
How you flying there? Direct or through Heathrow? One of the main reasons I haven't gone is that I just can't sit in a plane for 8 + hours non stop. I go stir crazy after 5 hrs......
