This is very accurate. It often has to do with the level of arousal. Or the temperature - much like a man's penis, swimming in cold water will cause 'shrinkage' and hard nipples.

Lol I prefer my nipples erect so much more that I almost always subconsciously give em a little tweak when I first undress, if I'm too warm or wtvr has them relaxed. But on other girls I actually appreciate both looks. At play, both men and , I like when they start out soft and watch and feel them grow as I fondle or kiss them. Such fun little devices, nipple.
