I know this is going to come off as gender bashing but what is it with women and these shows like Joe Millionaire and The Bachelorette . All the females that work for me have been debating all morning about some cheerleaders choice of a wimpy firefighter ( is it possible to be wimpy and a firefighter ) over some guy with money .

Please end these shows before women start going to bars armed with roses and my dates start pouting if I don't fly them somewhere .

Water cooler talk should be restricted to hockey and stockmarkets ( and the new girl with the incredible body )....lol.

As far as I'm concerned, it's all scripted. I mean come on...

Someone else on the board recently made a comment to the effect that they could feel their brain beginning to rot while watching the show. I couldn't agree more.

Btw... I hear "Joe" is actually a construction worker.

These shows do suck, but as a married guy, I've really got no choice but to watch with the wife.

First, I predicted they'd give the Joe guy a million $ at the end after watching the first show. Pissed my wife off to no end when I was right. ;)

Second, yes these are brain rotters, and possibly the biggest misnomer of the decade is 'reality' show, BUT I'm telling ya, you can learn a lot about the ladies by watching their reactions to these shows! What did I learn? You want chicks, model yourself on Charlie!!! Every hottie I know goes for that guy!

Third, I have to agree that it looks as if the network took a heavy hand in not the scripting, but the editing of The Bachlorette to mislead audiences into thinking she'd pick Charlie. And can you really the blame them? They want a surprise ending and it's of ZERO importance as long as people are entertained.

Word of warning though to any network execs who may read this....my wife went to grumbling about the lousy choice...

I was hoping that Joe Millionaire would have ended up with the Butler. Couldn't you just imagine if he was to have brought the girls down to the ballroom and then revealed to them that him and Paul are gay lovers? That would have been sweet! That would have been Fox!

If you don't like it, don't watch. I didn't watch and I don't feel like I've missed anything.
That was my problem....I didn't like it and didn't watch it but am still subjected to it ....lol.

I must apologize to the women though , I had thought that this stuff just appealed to them but I can now see the men seem to be just as taken by it .

I don't watch any reality TV. I seem to have real aversion to it.

I think it's how caught up in these things that people get, that further pushes me away. For the most part it's a fabricated reality. As for the ones that in fact do show real tragedy, I don't see how watching human tragedy is entertaining ...

I've watched Fear Factor and one season of Survivor under duress. I can see the humour in some aspects, but I'd rather just go to a mall and people watch, if I want real ...

I have problems enough with the melodramatic narration in documentaries ...

Pool, I have a scholarly interest in your statements, believe it or not. What do you mean when you say, how caught up in these things people get, pushes you away?

The Amazing Race

I am into Reality TV, but I got hooked when I first saw the Amazing Race.

I found myself rooting for or against certain teams. Plus, they do really get to go to a lot of exotic places, but too bad they didn't have the time to enjoy it.

I'll go on that show in a second.

No offense really but can someone explain to me what the fuck it is with typing every other letter in your sentence (etc) in capitals??!! Is it like code or something? Are you sending out messages for the underground? Am I just too freakin old?!

Like the Amazing Race as well thought it was a good premise for a show - great locals!

Absolutely, and Shawna is pretty hot also. I find Jenna's little interview vignettes quite ridiculous, however. It is hard to take her seriously when the little caption below her says "Swimsuit Model".
