All of a sudden, when I open a new window it is only half size. I can maximize it, but it's a pain in the ass to have to do it everytime I open a new window. I've tried dragging the borders outwards to make the window bigger, but this doesn't stick for the next window I open.

How do I get all new windows to open at maximum or near maximum size?

Go to the edge of the open window and when the little arrow appear's,click and drag it larger. When your done close it and open another one and see if it come's up full size.
My old room-mate had a habit of 'adjusting' my computer setting's.

You could always call Mike Holmes. I saw him enlarge a window on his last show.

Tried that. The new windows simply resize to the smaller size (the changes don't stick).

remember that when framing a window, of any size, make the rough opening 1/2' larger all the way around. Center window in opening, using shims. Screw into place on the top and sides. Stuff insulation into voids between window and rough opening.

Glad I could help:D

I think it works like this.

Open one window.
Maximise it.
Click the X to close it while holding the Ctrl key.

I think this is how you set the default size.

Although IE is not my primary browser, I still use it often. One of the many reasons I don't like it is this maximizing issue. A few days ago I downloaded software to be able to reassign the hotkeys on my keyboard and it really messed up my IE. The methods outlined above didn't work and it ticked me off so much I went a-Googling. I found this nifty little free program that does the job:

*Warning: If you're like me, you might experience a perverse pleasure from seeing your IE automically maximize when you click the "Open Link in New Window" command.
