Between a rock and a hard place
The first line says it all

"There will be virtually nothing left to fish from the seas by the middle of the century if current trends continue, according to a major scientific study. "

Anyone ever read 'How to lie with statistics' by By Darrell Huff?

Near the end he explains that if you know how something is changing over some short time period, you can make the situation seem much more extreme by projecting the trend into the future. There may be no particular reason to believe that the trend will continue, but in the meantime, you have got your headline.

Same Old Scare Trash

Remember Paul Erlich? In the '70s, he predicted the world would run out of food and millions would die in a short few years. He had an uninformed, Malthusian view plus a political agenda. Liberals still use his predictions - now updated - but still never right. It's like Jimmy Carter and the world running out of oil in the ;90s. The '90s are gone and there's more oil than ever.

It's the same old scare the people tactic taken by those who want to micromanage everyone;s lives - except their own. E.g., the Kennedys and the Kerrys fighting the wind turbines off "their" island.

The study is questionable. Fish are a renewable resource and properly managed aand properly marketed there will be plenty for many years.

I disagree.

I love seafood. Or used to. I can't stand the stuff they sell in the stores now. Unless you can find it fresh and from the sea or rivers, lakes etc.. the flavour is horrible. I can't stand the taste of farmed salmon and trout. It's horrid.
