Users of X, formerly known as Twitter, will no longer be able to block unwanted followers, according to a post by owner Elon Musk.

According to an article from CNBC, Musk on Friday revealed that soon, blocking will only be available for direct messages.

“Block is going to be deleted as a ‘feature’, except for DMs,” Musk commented under the account of Tesla.

A time frame for when the change would become effective was not given.

“It makes no sense,” was the only response he provided.

He noted that users will still be able to mute accounts.

Twitter users have also long employed the block feature in boycotts and to avoid seeing ads from specific brands or promoters on the platform.

CNBC reports that since acquiring Twitter last year for $44 billion, Musk has overhauled the company, laying off many employees, reinstating previously banned accounts and recently rebranding the company and platform as X.

I think that's the reasoning behind it. He doesn't want users to be able to impact ad revenue since Twitter desperately needs every penny they can get.
