I know someone who has applied for legal aid and was wondering if anyone was familiar with eligibility requirements. She's married, has four children, a household income of about $75,000 and they own their home (with a mortgage). Would someone in these circumstances have a chance of getting any assistance from legal aid?

I am not positive of the exact requirements currently but I remember a former employee who was earning about $8.00 an hour and did not own anything substantial was denied.

So I would bet the your friend will not qualify

I doubt it. Courts expect you to live in poverty before they will issue you a lawyer.

You know, if you're going to defraud legal aid you really shouldn't file court affidavits that prove that you're defrauding legal...ROTFLMAO

Same kind of situation. All in one week she's got caught lying to children's aid, the court , the police, and now legal aid. It's been a good week.
