Ok, so here we are in 2025. So who can quarterback this project home to completion at this stage or is it just inch by inch to correct and make the SME workmanship insurable and safe for the public to ride ?The initial contract was awarded to a consortium that was pulled together for the sole purpose of winning the bid. Each company was a SME in their space. But not a project at this scale.
When the defect list or lists were produced, they were prepared to walk. Metrolinx was screwed.
If ever we take on a project of this scale, look globally as to who does this day in day out. And that isn't North America. We don't build this stuff.
Can't fault the government as they don't have the mental capacity for this. Neither party has anyone who can cut it in the real world.
I live roughly in the area and I saw the early completion dates approaching and laughed, because things were obviously nowhere near done. More completion dates approached and passed with the same reaction.I think most torontonians dont even have any expectation of it opening.
Ever.
