A species going extinct? Please! Let's teach the controversy. This is the work of God almighty, not mortal man! In particular, it's not any kind of symptom of human pollution or planetary mismanagement; because that would be bad for the profits the good Lord surely wants us to have--and keep..

In the case of American eels, I know there was a problem a several years ago with overfishing for the returning "glass eels" driven by the huge prices paid for the same in Japan. I'm not sure though that this has anything to do with present problems. I also note that the link provided deals with but one river in Maine (which is not to say that it may not be a real problem, just that the evidence isn't provided by that one link).
