Winter is no time to be on a ladder with freezing cold awkward lengths of freezing aluminum. These guys need to make a year's worth of income while the weather's on their side. You answered your own question. But winter might have been a better time to make your booking.

Last year I needed a front eavestrough replaced and 2 roof leaks patched.
I grabbed one roofer working down the street and he fixed the eavestrough and one of the leaks but he was too busy to come back for the second leak so I grabbed another roofer working down the street for the second leak. Yes, they are very difficult (impossible?) to book. Just grab them when you see them on the job.
