I think this is an interesting article. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2341618,00.asp It tempts me. Unfortunately, the selection of works in specialized areas is still not to be taken seriously. For example, in the area of psychoanalysis, the Amazon store lists 232 works. I think I have well over a thousand such books and that's not excessive for someone in the field.

Surely the time will come when paper-and-ink books for adults are a scarcity in first world countries but I doubt I will live to see it.

I just bought my GF one for xmas (2 was just delivered). She's a voracious reader and travels globally - she's been schlepping 3-4 hardback books on a 1-2 week trip (and still complains about having to watch the movies on the way back because she's read all the books. I thought the small form factor and ability to cary dozens of books would be a great convenience for her....
