I wonder if this will hurt the downtown incall locations.

I don't see guys getting on the subway to get laid, but hey sometimes " a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do".

Every year they close the DVP and then the Gardiner. And it has the usual effect on traffic in and out of the city. Personally I really don't get why they need to close an entire Highway every year. I think this is unique to Toronto. I can't think of any other municipality that does this. How long does it take to fill a few potholes and sweep the shoulders?

Guess you've never been involved in a shut down have you. Every bit of conceivable work is done - paving, repairing collision damage, repairing expansion joints, relamping, cleaning catch basin sumps, bridge work, you name it. It's round the clock and the pressure is high.

As I said before, you have these things called streets that can handle cars also. Albeit slowly.

Now imagine if our MORON of a Mayor gets his way and tears down the Gardiner from Younge to the DVP.

It would be like that every day.

I can understand the need to close it for maintenance, but what burns me (and burner mayor mel when he was in power) was the closing of highways for special events like the walkathons, bikeathons, skateathons etc.

I remember one year they closed the DVP for something or other, while the "taste of the danforth" was on, and at the same time, the bayview extension was closed for construction, the jarvis, Mt Pleasant route was down to 1 lane both directions, I had a job up at yonge and sheppard, made it there ok, (1.25 hrs) but coming home? Took me easily, 2.5 - 3.0 hrs.
