That's hilarious.
There were drug tunnels that looked pretty much the same between Mexico and US. The only reason I heard about those was that the guys got busted. Chances are these rockets scientists saw the same news program.

I ride past that plae a couple times per week, and never would have guessed. Though, in this neck of the woods, where grow-ops seems to outnumber normal residences, it does not surprise me one little bit. There have been 5 torn down on the other side of my street, and this is a brand new development. To say it's out of control out here is a minor understatement of monumental proportions.

Maybe they knew about the tunnel the entire time but until they did something illegal couldn't bust them or wanted to bust them for something more then intent.

I loved the way Kevin Freakish reported this story first time around this morning on BT. First thing that came to my mind was ‘now I know this guy is a smoker for sure’. In his next report though he toned it down a lot and was more professional. I thought maybe one of his bosses must have filled him in. lol.
On a more serious note though... I also thought from the beginning that this tunnel could be used for a lot more then just smuggling pot. Then in a newspaper report today some of the US guys were suggesting just that. Could have been used to smuggle explosives etc. With those thoughts in mind... I don't think it's so funny anymore. Because IMO it is a very real possibility.

There might have been, but I changed my mind.
I was going to build one from under the tool shed in my back yard to under my neighbor’s swimming pool. Then I realized one of my housemates was just kidding me when he said that they had a glass bottom in that pool. Sure glad I changed my mind.... cause Merryland wanted pretty big bucks to do all that digging.
