Dramatic aerial photos from New York on 9-11 newly released

That date will be forever etched in our memories...

I visited "ground zero" about 60 days after 9-11... it was STILL very quiet 2 months after the fact. There was no hustle and bustle that usually accompanies a trip to lower Manhattan at that time of year (just before US Thanksgiving...) most of the businesses were closed, and there were a fair amount of people walking around, and not saying a word. Streets were still cordoned off, so there was no traffic for blocks in either direction. The only sounds that could be heard were of construction vehicles which were still removing debris... I will never forget the overwhelming feeling I felt that day.

It was surreal.

The photo with the fires should be shown to the nut bars who think that the buildings were brought down by some covert controlled demolition.

way out in left field
not saying they are true or not but have you seen the documentary James? There is a LOT of compelling arguments there. Especially involving the pentagon. The shape of the hole looked extremely similar to a rocket and no where near the right shape or size of the plane that hit it.

Made me stop and think for a second......

At the risk of sounding like a twit, isn't the shape of a jet pretty much the same as the shape of a rocket, once you knock the wings off?

That "event" will remain in most of our memories forever, along with images of the Challenger exploding...

A buddy of mine lived in a building beside Battery Park that was caught in the dust cloud that can be seen in those pics. He had to be evacuated by boat that day. That was some fucking day.

He has since had to be treated for cancer, luckily the treatment seems to have worked.

Wow...all the footage I've seen so far has been from the ground or from side buildings. From an overhead shot the devastation, including the scope of environmental damage, is even more overwhelming (I am at a loss ofr words to describe this).

Barring another world war, Sept 11 will most likely stand as the defining moment of our century. These pictures really make one think how horrific true "urban warfare" with weapons bigger than rifles would be, and are an excellent argument against ever engaging in such a conflict.

Doesn't come close to the Tsunami, floods in Bangladesh, Haiti, Pakistani earthquake, Schejaun earthquake. New Orleans in terms of devastation. Global warming and the potential devistation from changing weather patterns and rising water levels will likely be the defining moment.911 was nicely captured on film and because it was so localized it looked spectacular in how unbelievable it was, but in hindisght hardly the deining moment in our century.

Except that all those things you mentioned are all natural disasters, "acts of god" if you will and therefore not preventable... whereas the tragedy of 911 was completely man made.

A good hurricane does more damage than 911 did

It was the Bush reaction that far surpased 911 in both human and economic terms

The allies and Hitler and the Russians flattened many european and Japanese cities

Three buildings seems petty

Actually no. The jet has a very large tail (rudder).
Why are the wings off?
Why are the jet engines found at the scene NOT the engines on the plane that was supposed to have hit the pentagon?
Where are the bodies of the passengers?
Why is there no video surveillance of the jet hitting the pentagon? Obviously the pentagon has world class surveillance?

The bodies were taken away by the FBI.

The Pentagon's video is most likely classified, and unavailable for public consumption.

There was, however, video from a gas station and hotel across the street. IIRC, the government swooped in and confiscated those tapes. Though I've heard that there may be copies or portions that are available somehow.

I am sure the conspiracy types would still belive it was a conspiracy even if they saw the incoming plane themselves.

There is video showing the aircraft hitting the Pentagon,

the wings tend to separate from an aircraft when it strikes hard objects like the I-beams in a steel reinforced concrete building,

your source for statement regarding the aircraft engines is what expert who was actually involved with the recovery efforts at the Pentagon?

remains were recovered, further what about those who made cell phone calls from the aircraft where they abducted by little green men?
