Montreal sucks.

Too many french there I found when we stopped there for a bit on my grade 8 trip to quebec city in '83 at some cathedral.

I thought quebec city was garbage as well and couldn't wait to get back to Toronto.

Never went back.

That link didn't work for some reason. Why didn't it turn red?

Google miserable germans and you'll see it.

Germany "the most miserable nation in the European Union"- Telegraph

Read it.

It's more truth I share with you people.

I love Montreal. I stay at the Loews Vogue. It is right off St.Catherine street close to the Bell Centre. It is nice, valet parking right off the street is quick, everyone speaks English. No pool though. Last time we stayed Dana White of UFC had the room next door.

If you want to be close to clubs, you'll want to be on or near Cresent St. More clubs in 2 blocks than you'd ever want.

Just about everything else you'd want is on St Catherine's, from SCs to anything else. You HAVE to check out Coleman's Deli if you like deli. They have 2 locations on St Kitts and believe me, if you order the smoked turkey on rye you will NOT be able to get your mouth around it.....

If you want nice places, the Hyatt, and Sheraton are great places.

If you want cheap and clean, the Days Inn on Rue Guy is a great budget place.

The less I spend on rooms the more we'll spend in the club, size and confort doesn't matter as much as location and cleanliness... read no bed bugs.

Then I'll recommend the Days Inn on Rue Guy. I stayed there many times and once booked 10 rooms for a crew of workers. It is walking distance to Cresent St, 2 blocks south of St Kitts, and really quite handy although not right in the action.....

where to stay in downtown montreal? close to clubs.. strip and jazz?
Iprint, go to www.priceline.com and you can get great deals as well as look at their selection of hotels.
Priceline is supposed to be for Yanks only, but just fill out some bogus U.S. address, they dont care if you're Canadian they just want your business.
I use 90210 as ZIP code ;)

I used to stay at L'Appartement on Sherbrooke, next to McGill University, lots of good looking students in the area, suites, pool on the top floor with a great view. Don't know if it's still running, but would be my choice.

There are several hotels just off St. Catherine's ranging from moderate to high end, it depends on what you want and what you can afford. Why not check over at MERB, locals may have business connections, or even have hobbied in some of them.

Just a wonderfully friendly city!..especially in the bars on Crescent Street at night!! And the women!!!!! Friendly.......and what is really noticeable is that everyone seems to be in good physical shape.....me being overweight and all....It was difficult to find an overweight person anywhere?????? ...still too much smoking going on though.......

Montreal is great.

The hotel Vogue is across the street from one of the high end strip clubs, Wanda's and the next street over to the english meat market bars on Cresent street. It's in the upper third of the price range. There is a Novatel a couple of blocks away and a Sheraton that might be a little cheaper. There is a Sheraton 4 points about a km away on St Catherine.

Check something like Expedia. Prices are relatively cheap starting in November all over Mtl.

The separatist are all in the old folks homes.

In case any of you are wondering if the separation problem still exist. The answer is NOT REALY. You will not be taunted if you are english speaking like you were years ago. Most younger people under 30 speak english now. They will be as polite to you as you are to them. The younger people realize that we all live in a world economy and to participate you will have to speak the language of the majority. The internet has also played a big role, as most computer programs and the vast majority of content is in english. If you plan to SP and MP in Montreal, you can count on about a 40% DISCOUNT from the GTA rates. Some HDHs can be had for $175, and the older but still good looking once can be had starting at $130 - $140. MP rates start at $35 for half hour and $50 for the hour, the high MP rate is $40hh. and $60H. Thai ( reverse slide go for as low as $100/h. at indies. You can thank Rene Levesque for sending all the head offices down the 401 to the GTA, and causing what is now a MP / SP heaven with the lowest rates in North America!

It's not just the young people who will respect you, most quebecers didn't hate us anglos even during the height of the separatist movement.

I travelled there often and was always welcomed with open arms.....
