John Tory warns us darkly that Doug Ford would be a disruptive, divisive and insulting mayor, even “worse” than his brother, and continue the chaos at City Hall.

I can hear the response rolling in from the grand steppes of Scarborough and the leafy ravines of Etobicoke ...

“But, Johnny, that’s EXACTLY what the place needs!”

Indeed, Mr. Tory has unwittingly hit upon how a Ford (pick a Ford) has a good shot at being mayor — no matter how temperamental, vindictive, rude and crude they seem or how notorious their lifestyle or how loose they are with the truth.

None of that matters, except as water cooler fodder or on late night TV.

How the fuck can a newspaper confuse a bloviating jackass with all the propriety and gravitas of a fart during a sermon with "a breath of fresh air"?

Ahhh, right! It's the Sun. Seems I confused them with a newspaper.

The only thing is the polls have shown Tory leading in Scarborough as well as Downtown. Even in a statistical tie in Etobicoke.

Now forum isn't the best and it was a flash poll within hours of the announcement. One interesting thing though was as time went on DURING the polling Doug's numbers went down from 37% to 33%. They cresit to a sypathy bump and the news unfolding during news conferences.

I'll hold. Back any new profound predictions until I see what Doug has to say over the next 2 weeks or so.

Please check the fact before posting.

Doug Ford's support increased from just one third (33%) before 7:00 PM this evening to more than this (36%) after he began addressing the public at 7:00 PM.

Sorry I didn't say that correctly. My point was that the polling was occuring while different things were happening. It could easily be said he received a sympathy bump due to the content of his speech.

What will count now is he will come under scrutiny for policy. And his past is about to be torn apart. I did say the poll was weak.

That Tory maintained his lead is what counts to me. And Sodnacki's vote may not have transfered to Chow. Its in play. Very interesting.
