So, I need to make list of all the files in a directory (folder).

The only way I can figure out how to do this is to revert to DOS using the "dir" command.

(all you young folks won't know whatthehell I'm talking about)

So to do this I open a command prompt
cd to the right directory
and then use the dir command redirected to a file, like this

dir>files.txt

Is there any way to do this in Win10? Surely there must be some way to do this in Windows???

Search how to open a.command window in Windows 10, then pretend you are in DOS and 'dir' away.

Yeah, I did some research myself and it looks like using Command and the dos commands are the only way to go...

Thanks

This is oen way to do it.

http://www.howtogeek.com/98064/how-to-print-or-save-a-directory-listing-to-a-file/

And, there are others, with switches, etc. that will allow you to print only the names of the files.

f I am not mistaken, there is also a way to open a command line prompt by right clicking the mouse. Press teh shift key and right click the mouse. The print directory will appear in the directory from which you open the command prompt.

Karen's tools is also good for this stuff.
