We have a program at work where the company matches the employee contribution, and then as the OP noted the government matches. I donated 1K which will end up 3K for the cause. I am not sure if my donation is tax deductible, if so, bonus. The city is devastated and will take a great deal of time to restore power, gas, water etc. let alone rebuild. The saving grace seems to be that there has been no loss of life.

If you donate $1000 and your company matches it then the government will donate $2000 making the total $4000 from your initial $1000 donation. Even better. Good job.

If you have a bunch of points lying around doing nothing, donate it for cash.
190 pts = $20

You can't buy anything decent without a ton of points anyways.

Plus the government will match all donations...so every bit helps.

At first I thought, no way, cuz it takes forever to accumulate them.

But I also heard that you can't buy much with them.

So maybe that's a great idea after all.

Thanks for the idea and the link.
