CHFI was my mom's favorite station it was always on in the kitchen when I was growing up. Can still hear his voice in my head. RIP.

I still have cd copies of his Saturday Night oldies shows.

I recall many years ago tuning into the Saturday night classics and hearing hard rock music like Led Zeppelin. I was confused and wondering if there was a programming change. Turns out the show was Don's tribute to his late son, and he was playing the music his son loved.

some things just stick in your head for decades and it brings instant recall.....im on the 401 listening to Don,s Saturday Night Oldies and on comes Doo Wa Diddy by Manfred Mann, after the song ended Don stated that it was a cover and proceeded to play the original by a girl group The Exciters....i knew that was the original.. but i wondered how many listeners
knew..after all the Exciters was relatively a obscure R&B group...but Don included it....and it stuck with me, that memory....thanks Don for being a class act and including that song in your playlist

I have vivid memories of listening to Stump the Chump with the double D's: Don Daynard and Darryl Dahmer.

Awww man...

I used to listen to him on CKFM, and later on CHFI. Corny and goofy, but a lot of fun. Always enjoyed his Really Bad Joke of the Day (which became the Extremely Bad Joke of the Day at CHFI).

Got to talk briefly with him once when I called in to the station for some reason (probably a prize draw for something). One of the good guys.

So long, Don, and when I'm driving, I will definitely "watch out for the other guy"!
