Just curious if gents really care about communicating through Proton mail, or if it even matters. I understand that this is supposed to be somewhat encrypted and safer than regular email, which could matter to some. Love to hear your thoughts? Thanks!!~

It's safer in that they don't sell your data for profit like US based email service providers, I'm talking about Google specifically but it applies to others as well. However don't be fooled, Switzerland is part of the EU and still subject to the EU and it's dystopian nonsense despite Switzerland's reputation for protecting privacy. They will also still turn over records if presented with warrants requesting them to do so. Frankly privacy on the Internet functionally doesn't exist anymore, it should be assumed that either the platform your data is hosted on or the government itself is monitoring everything you do

When I see a lady using Proton mail, it tells me that person is privacy minded and has done at least some amount of research on ways to protect herself and her clients. All good things in my book 😉

Yes, nothing is perfect but Proton is still much better than using Gmail for example. I also don't agree that "there is functionally no privacy on the Internet anymore", there are many ways to achieve near perfect secrecy but your average client is not going to go to those lengths even if you prompt them to.

So all things considered Proton won't hurt you and may even gain you some reputation points from like minded people...

Signal has a back door in it that allows government access, just ask Tucker Carlson about that. Tor has long been proven to be far from anonymous, police have been able to take down every black market place since Silk Road and arrest it's operators. VPNs are similarly compromised, especially those that keep records. The only sure way I know to achieve near perfect secrecy these days is to not use the Internet at all. Keeping criminals and the like at bay is one thing but the government is nearly impossible. If they want to spy on your Internet activities they will find a way to do it

Switzerland isn't part of the EU nor do they participate in GDPR but their policies are close enough. Irrelevant anyway bc Proton has moved out of Swiss-only infrastructure and is now hosted in other EU countries so 🤷‍♂️

If ladies aren't using Linux Red Hat I simply don't book.
I prefer providers who use Debian (linux), but I'm community minded. ;)

Edit: As mentioned, Proton mail does at least show a provider is privacy minded, so it is a plus IMO.

Nice to read, i am sure most ladies are trying to protect their clients the best they can.

I myself am thinking about changing email as well. Little more dicreet in case eyes see it that are not supposed to.

Thank you, keep the info flowing.

I was under the impression that Switzerland's trade agreements essentially put it in the EU without formally being a part of it, the fact that Protonmail is hosted in EU countries is rather disturbing to hear about, I had no idea about that.

In terms of security if a guy like Snowden and others can flee and reveal documents then the government isn't 100% able to stop things. There are still holes. It's a shame the US considers him a traitor.

Snowden had direct access to the material he leaked but the government at the time also didn't have access to AI and companies like Palantir. Hard to see how someone could pull a similar caper to Snowden these days

I don’t think they honour Canadian warrants. Maybe other EU countries, but not the US or Canada. But don’t quote me.
