I would not mind a reasonable fee. I am only comfortable using my cards on the internet via PayPal. I have often turned away from a purchase because of no PayPal. I carry a high limit on my cards, and worry about the grief of sorting out a possible fraudulent use. It happened to me once. A prepaid with a small amount on it would be perfect. These also come with activation fees and/or monthly fees as well. Check into that before spending the money on them to see whether it's worth it to you.
I would imagine that the main advantage of the prepaid card is the anonymity - just like a hobby phone. Particularly useful if you want to do an outcall and not have the hotel charges show up on your monthly credit card statement. If you've already got a card (i.e. a credit rating) why wouldn't you just get a second card from your bank (or whoever) with a $500-$1000 limit. No fees, pay it off monthly so no interest, and your exposure is limited to the card limit.
Not sure what the advantage of a prepaid is?
You can't get them at walmart probably because they want you to spend your money at walmart. Lol ,i was going to use a walmart card to buy a vanilla gift card, but i couldn't find one and I've never seen one there.Money Mart, petro Canada, Macs Milk, Walmart.
Just to help me understand this strange new cashless world: What credit is involved in a pre-paid credit card? From the user's point of view, is it not just a debit card with its own restricted account?
