A NEW father has been arrested in Saudi Arabia after he shot and maimed a doctor who attended to his wife in hospital.

Jordanian medic Dr Muhannad Al Zabn was shot a month after he delivered his gunman's baby after the dad returned angry that his wife hadn't had treatment from a female gynecologist.

Staff at King Fahad Medical City in the Saudi capital Riyadh were stunned by today's attack.

The unnamed assailant allegedly travelled to the hospital after arranging to speak with Dr Al Zabn who had been instrumental in the safe arrival of the child.

According to reports, the unnamed father, smuggled a gun into the hospital grounds.

He then arranged access to the doctor and agreed to meet him in the hospital's garden.

Once outside he removed the gun from its hiding place and shot the doctor at point blank range.

After the alarm was raised the gunman ran off and staff rushed to Dr Al Zabn's aid.

He was immediately taken to the hospital's intensive care unit where is being treated currently.

A hospital spokesman confirmed that the doctor's condition was stable.

Bassam Al Buraikan added that police have launched an attempted murder investigation following the horrific incident.

News of the incident has sparked a wave of comments on social media with some supporting the father.

Equal rights is not on the agenda in the strict Middle Eastern country.

Females are banned from undertaking many day to day tasks to prevent them form coming into contact with men.

Hey Dumb Ass, if you actually bothered to read the article, it was pretty clear that the Doctor was shot because he was a man and that the gunman was outraged that another man had seen his wife's privates. This kind on blind, murderous rage has been linked to the Muslim faith for the last century. No where does it say that all Muslims are nut jobs, but it's getting very clear that growing vocal minority are winning the battle for what direction Islam is to go forward into the 21st Century. Conquest by any means, higher birth rates, mass invasion of Europe, terror attacks...
