I was just wondering if second generation Canadians hold a grudge against, lets say fourth or fifth generation Canadians for any mistreatment their parents may have experienced when they came to Canada?
I agree. All the wannabe Irish at St Patrick's day are kinda sad IMO.MarkII said:But why do so manyu people say they are "__________-Canadian"?
I understand honouring ones heritage, but, if you're second or third generation, you are Canadian at that point.
Are you serious? Look at the amount of maple leafs you see around Toronto, flying in people's yards, stickers on cars, logos on clothing. Not to mention the ubititous Canadian flag stuck on the luggage of the international Canadian traveller (what other country does that?). I've been to maybe 20 countries, and I think Canada and US take joint first place for overt displays of nationalism.MarkII said:I hate the American value of waving the flag, but I truly wish more Canadians felt the same way. There's nothing wrong with embracing the country you were born and live in.
Dude shut the fvck up about your 5th generation bullshit!!!Oil Please said:And if your 5th like me......than you are PURE CANADIAN!
Hobbit said:Good point frankcastle, I guess I would be 1 1/2 generation Canadian by lineage. But first, foremost and always Canadian.

I went to California at 5yrs old for 2 yrs and have been in Canada overs 40 years. English is my firsst and only language.
As far as I am concerned I am more Canadian than someone 10 yrs old or 20
as I have seen the emergence of Canada and I watched the original 6 teams in the NHL and future generations can never do this so they will never be true Canadians.

The Grandparents of second generation Canadians would have hardly been able to inflict any mistreatment at all seeing how the grandparents of fourth and fifth generation Canadian were most assuredly long buried.sorely said:How about the mistreatment dished out by the second generation's grand parents to the Canadian grandparents of the 4th or 5th generation Canadians?
The grandparents of current 4th and 5th generation Canadians likely fought overseas in WWI and WWII against the grandparents of the current 2nd generation Canadians.clearwaterjim said:The Grandparents of second generation Canadians would have hardly been able to inflict any mistreatment at all seeing how the grandparents of fourth and fifth generation Canadian were most assuredly long buried.
Oh I'm sorry I see what you mean, personally no we fourth and fifth generation Canadians hold no grudges whatsoever, we are a very forgiving and tolerant people afterall look at who we allow to come into Canada, even those who may have mistreated our grandparents.sorely said:The grandparents of current 4th and 5th generation Canadians likely fought overseas in WWI and WWII against the grandparents of the current 2nd generation Canadians.
