Do people at Canada Post pilfer from the mail?

Do you know of any instances of Canada Post employees pilfering from mail or keeping packages? I am building a super computer to do technical analysis on stocks. I recently ordered three 24 inch monitors from Best Buy. Two days later I turn on my street and see a Canada Post truck outside my place. The mail carrier jumps out of the truck and rushes up to my door and place one monitor at the door and quickly walks away as if there was a bomb in the box. As he steps on the sidewalk I ask him if there are two other boxes, he tells me no and quickly drives away. The next day at approximately the same time I return home and the same mailman is dropping two more boxes at the door and again walks briskly away from the door. He comes face to face with me on the walkway and nervously tells me that he had just delivered the two other boxes. I suspect that the three boxes were in his truck the day before and he was going to give himself a late Christmas gift. He can always blame the theft on porch pirates

The days when the postman could pause on your stoop to shoot the breeze are over. I'm not sure how having three packages sent the same day get to you on two successive days amounts to a plot to steal your mail. If you think there are porch pirates in your area have somebody send you a few transponders...

I think you are reading way to much into this.

I have ordered multiple same items and had them arrive at different times. Many times, different items, same transaction, also delivered at different times. It is just the way it happens. Some items are not at the same warehouse, etc

As for his fast moving pace, we are in a pandemic and shipping has increased by how much because of it? They are busier then ever, cut them some slack and stop being so suspicious

The boxes had sequential shipping numbers, the same date and were shipped from the same place. Logically they came from the same warehouse at the same time. These were 24 inch Samsung monitors that were on special for the Boxing Day sale. There was probably no shortage of these items, so they did not need to ship from separate warehouses. The behavior of the mail carrier was suspicious as well.

I have had two different delivery people on the same day for different parts of the same order. So what.

You are searching for something that is not there. Did you not have a tracking number? Did the tracking number include all three items in one number or three different tracking numbers, one for each TV? I get coffee from costco, same bill, two different tracking numbers.

A mail carrier being in a rush and not having time to chat with you is not suspicious.

They track those parcels by scanning them at each stage of shipping and delivery. They investigate disappearances and they fire the carrier on a first offence. It's just not worth risking your job and your pension. I knew one mailman who stole Metropasses and he got fired and charged.

Unless one truck was full and so your order was split. And placed on the next truck. Just because it was sequential doesn't mean they went at yhe same time in the same vehicle.

Or ended up on the same pallet either. In the same truck. One opened at end of one day, one beginning of next day.

Like in most large organizations, there is a mixture of bad employees, okay workers, and superb employees. A few rotten apples probably do steal. It is a unionized workplace, so some bad apples probably get away with murder.

A relative of mine hired Canada Post to distribute some flyers. He later found the flyers in the garbage. When he complained, the supervisor told him he would have to fill out a lot of paperwork before she would investigate. You would think that the supervisor would want to know if her employees are not performing their jobs properly. Nope. Instead, a lot of red tape was thrown in my relative's face.

I another case, at my apartment, a postal worker was throwing mail (that was delivered to the wrong address) in the garbage. Another resident complained and asked that her name not be revealed to the worker. Canada Post told the guy her name and he started throwing her mail in the garbage. He was either fired or reassigned to another district, but it shows there are some bad apples willing to break the rules (btw I find most postal workers to be reliable and hardworking).

You know (no, obviously you don't) that the shipping label on the boxes would tell you if this is the case. It say either box 1 of 1, or box 1 of 3.
If the shipping labels do say that there are three packages then it's more likely that the two later packages were stuck at the distribution depot. This isn't uncommon.

Also, there's nothing special about 24" 1080p monitors.

I work fòr CPC and deliver parcels..three boxes ordered together doesnt mean they all get to depot at the same time or get sorted for delivery.
We have the best job security in the field except if one steals.

Nothing special about 24in. monitors except they were free and worth over $500 tax in. I once had a discussion on this matter in the lunch room at work. Everyone had a story of missing packages that had to be resent by the retailer. It is funny that it is never the knitted toque that grandma knitted for Timmy and always a consumer item that was clearly marked with the content description. I think that if a postman rips off some packages 2-3 times a year he can get away with it because it is still in the realm of plausible deniability that the packages may have been stolen by porch pirates.

I once ordered a Minn Kota electric fishing motor. After 3 weeks it did not arrive. I started papers at Canada Post to trace the package because the company told me it had been sent out. A few days later the company told me that it was returned to their warehouse. Where was this motor for almost a month? I suspect the culprit felt the heat and threw the motor back into the system.

It’s not just Canada post .A lot of delivery company’s are now outsourced due to the recent high demand of online shopping.
There was a video this year from the GTA where a amazon delivery driver dropped off a box at the front door, took a picture as proof it was there, looked around and then scooped it and went back to his truck.
He didn’t realize the doorbell was a
camera.

It's safer to buy expensive stuff in the mall and carry the physical product out.

Cheap junk can be bought online, then stolen.

The delivery people stole my Filet O Fish and Fries, ... another time my cheap headset was stolen but the neighbour later gave it to me, I never ordered online again.

Don't trust people anymore.

Let your heart fill with hatred and resentment - like a normal person.

Poor reasoning given a shipment can be broken up in transit or even dispatched from the seller separated, sourced from different warehouses at different times and days etc.

I have had many parcels disappear on me from Canada Post. I also have a motion detector activated camera at my front door, so I know the parcels were not nabbed by porch pirates. I now use a service called FlexDelivery and have the parcels delivered to the local post office. Since I have been using this service I have not had one parcel go missing because they have a camera at the post office to prove that they have delivered it to me.
Canada Post trucks have GPS, so if the truck arrives in front of your place the package is deemed to have been delivered. Between the truck and your door no one can prove the package was not delivered or delivered and snatched by porch pirates.

I know a retired TPS detective who told me that theft is a constant at Canada Post. They investigate on an on-going basis. One of the biggest items is the theft of new credit cards. While they arrive in a plain envelop and the CP guys know what to look for. They get three days to go on a spending bings before any red flags appear, so they ditch the card and move on to the next. If every credit card in the country is renewed every 3 years, just do the math. Every month there are thousands of renewals and it's apparently is a big problem.

Credit cards have to be activated and now a days have PINs.Dont know where you got information about the " Big Problem" but it isnt CPC employees doing it in large numbers.Thieves actuaĺly steal street letter boxes to steal and wash cheques.
We might be lazy federal employees but We do not steal.

No, they just slow it down to glacial pace to where in some cases your affairs would be better off had they stolen your mail than they were when said mail just arrived a few weeks late.
