hey guys

i have finally done it!

I have replaced my DLINK router with a LinkSys router

it was scary because I thought it was going to be hell - exchanging phone calls with tech support people for DAYS

but that wasn't the case. It was simply the easiest case of just plugging it all in and VOILA!

The internet and the settings were automatic!

Here's the problem now

The issue with the Dlink router was that it kept disconnecting every 15 minutes.

Now, I seem to be experiencing the same problem with the Linksys router.

Every time I play a game - i get disconnected every 20 minutes - when the game is supposed to last an hour MINIMUM - sometimes 2 hours.

what the hey?

Why is the Linksys router starting to disconnect now?

HELP!

Check your log for DOS attacks. If you see the same IP addresses as incoming it's possible that the flood will cause your connection issue

I use an RBOC DSL in the US and have the same problems. Friends more technical then me tell me that they are recycling IP addresses and a static IP will fix the problem. I have not pursued yet,

Which Linksys router do you have cause they are known to have crappy firmware especially on the WRT54G models. If you happen to have that one and it's v5 or v6 (you can find that on the bottom of the router) install DD-WRT on it and it should become more stable. On a side note I am finding Belkin routers to be very stable especially the G+ MiMo line or the N1.

i had similar problem when i switched from a Netgear wired router to D-Link wireless router, then i discarded the D-Link wireless router and got a new Netgear wireless router, no problem whatsoever since then.

on a side note, few buddies of mine using D-Link said they have no problem at all.
