Disappointing Afternoon

I have been very busy lately and didn't have a lot of time for fun, but I had an hour this afternoon and decided to try one of the west end spas because they were convenient and fit my schedule. I checked the online systems and decided on a lady at Hush West. I won't say her name here as it may not have been her fault. I booked online, got the confirmation email and showed up ready for some fun. One of the other ladies (the lovely Raven who I have made a note to check out some time) told me my MA wasn't here yet, but she put me in a room and went to text the MA to see where she was. She came back in a couple of minutes and said there was a screw-up on the schedule and that my MA wasn't supposed to be working that day. I asked if anyone else was available and I was told they were all booked up. So my afternoon was a waste of my time and effort.

I am not sure here if this was a case of an unreliable MA who just chose not to show up (its been known to happen) or if it was just Hush being careless when they posted the schedule. It had happened once before where I booked an MA and she called in sick. Hush went out of their way to contact me, let me know and when I got to the spa I had a couple of other options to choose from. My choice turned out to be excellent. This time, no such luck. I still have the confirmation email and the MA is still on the schedule so someone else could find themselves out of luck as well.

So folks a word of advice, even if you have a confirmation email from an automated booking, you may want to check with the MA or the spa before wasting anytime showing up only to be disappointed.

I got an email at 2:47 thanking me for cancelling my 1:30 appointment. I didn't cancel it, it was cancelled for me by circumstances. All things considered I would have preferred the session.

Hello , It is none my business but this subject really interests me.
So you got time to text « Raven » who allegedly knows who you want to have a session with !
Even got time to post on Terb but you never thought texting the MA girl you were supposed to see today ?
Or text her to see if she will be working today or not .
Come on , a grown adult should handle a conflict with the person he has an issue with first and foremost !
Bunch of complainers in this site. Can’t handle the slightest inconvenience or imperfections. Snowflakes abound

From what I comprehend, Raven was there when he arrived and texted the other attendant. He did not text Raven.

Your anger seems to be misplaced. By his post, it appears that Hush was in the wrong, or at least the online booking was incorrect/an oversight. He got a confirmation, after all...

Just to clarify as either my story was confusing or some people have an issue with reading comprehension.

  1. I booked an appointment online and got confirmation.
  2. I arrived at the Spa and was met by the aforementioned Raven, who told me the MA I was booked to see wasn't onsite, so she put me in a room while she went to text the MA to ask what was up.
  3. Raven came back and had the unfortunate task of telling me of the issue and said that the schedule was wrong. But again that may or may not have been the truth, maybe the MA just decided not to come in.
  4. There were no other MA's available at the spa when I was there so I had no Plan B.
  5. I did not have any way to contact the MA I booked with, no email, no twitter etc. So I couldn't confirm with her. And booking through a spa's system I shouldn't have to reach out separately. They should inform me of a problem. If she wasn't on schedule then why did they accept the appointment?
  6. An hour after the session I got an email from the spa telling me I cancelled the session, but that may have just been a canned message they sent out. I definitely did not cancel, I had re-arranged my schedule to make this appointment. I hear enough on this board about "no-shows" and time wasters inconveniencing providers. I think my time is just as valuable and I am not out of line by making this public. I am not a snowflake and this wasn't a minor inconvenience. I think I have been making useful contributions to this board for over 15 years. I know enough not to mention the MA's name as it may not have been her fault.
Sorry if I inconvenienced some "newbie".

Well explained and thank you for taking the time to clarify. All businesses screw up sometimes. The last time I made a mistake is when I thought I was wrong when I wasn't. However, a wise and prudent business will restore its client relationship by at least offering some form of restitution. Yes, even the offer of a room discount on a future visit constitutes a positive move and doesn't really cost the club much if anything. When that doesn't happen, the unfavourable experience is likely to be shared with others by word of mouth or on Terb. That's what forums are about... both the positive and the negative.

This kind of stuff is why I always just book with the provider themselves, find their twitter and message them there or if they choose to share a phone number on that account. It just feels more dependable and real.

It does suck when it happens. I had a similar experience, same location, about a year ago. I chose to have a session with someone who was available, and it was a less than a stellar one. Live and learn.
Both of these ladies are long gone, to the relief of management...

I had a similar experience with that club as well. Booked an MA a week before through their online booking because I couldn’t book with the club unless I was a member so I joined.

Morning of my appointment I checked my email checked the club Twitter and check the MAs Twitter, and there was no mention of a cancellation. I showed up for my appointment and was told she wasn’t working that day.

Lucky for me another option was available except I had to drive to the West location after driving downtown and paying parking and it was a little bit later on the day so I had to change my afternoon plans.

I do enjoy booking through the online system however, I think going forward I will confirm with the MA or the club prior to driving to my appointment.
