North of Toronto, seriously go check out Asian Legend man, it's not 100% dim sum but they do have some on the menu (more northern dim sum food than cantonese). If your on the east side just go check out Markham area, you'll find a ton, go during their happy hour sessions heheh usually after 1:30 or 2 as the lunch crowd dies down and it becomes super cheap heh

Define North of Toronto...If you're talking Richmond Hill/Markham you're in the Dim Sum Capital of Ontario. Check out Golden Times (upstairs at Times Square Mall)(HWY 7 and Leslie). Another great choice is The Ambassador (in the mall directly to the west) Both these places are a little pricey but very nice with great Dim Sum.

Realized afterwards that I left the parameters kinda loose. Along Hwy 7 is what I really meant. Then I realized where I was talking about, and my question seemed kind of redundant. Anyway, I'm not too familiar with that area and was just looking for a quick tip on a good place to eat.

That being said:
It seems the Ambassador is the place to go, so far.

Hmmm, is that anywhere near IT???

Thanks for the input.
Cheers,
Jack

Very near.
The Ambassador is on the northwest corner of West Beaver Creek and Hwy.7.

The Star Walk Buffet has some pretty good Dim Sum and it is all you can eat for around $10.
The shrimp dumplings (hargow) are pretty good and plentiful.
Sticky rice, beef ribs, and shiu mai are okay also.
They also have some decent sushi and other usual Chinese buffet stuff.
It is located just south of Steeles just west of Midland (first street, could be Silver Star)

You may be thinking of New Century behind Metro Square on Steeles.

Xarir, there are some good Dim sum places around 16 Ave but pricey.

Call me a purist, but unless they truly are an exception, the abovementioned descriptions in bold are likely reasons #1 and #2 why I would avoid a restaurant, the latter being of course, that they try and do a "pan-Asian" thing which is a no-no in my books. :(

Purist.

Seriusly, some of those buffet houses are not that bad. If you are not anal with their restaurant setting, those places may be your basic dim sum fix.

On the west side I can recommend a few good joints, you might want to check out Emerald which is right at the intersection of 403 and Hurontario, near a Swiss Chalet. There's also summit garden that's on dundas and winston churchill (I would say this is the best in the west side). There's also a few others by credit view and burnhamthorpe area as well.
