I was browesing TERB in my work place. I received a phone call and I left my computer to see someone. When I came back, I realized that I had forgotton to close the TERB window before I went to see the person. For 15 minutes, my office computer was showing the TERB board for everyone to see. I really don't know how many people saw this. Everyone knows that I am going to Toronto for a business trip, what a screw up :(

Doh!

That is why you put on a password protected screensaver with a time out of 2 to 3 minutes.

Better luck next time.

Could be worse- at least the ads and graphics on terb are a little less than graphic... It's not like there are animated x-rated gifs and such.

Could also be much much worse- someone could have started posting assholian things while you were logged in! ;)

It is the suspense that is killing

I never thought of screen saver. Good idea. It is interesting to walk into the office not knowing who has seen my screen. I think I marketed the web sites for Select company, Hollywood and Allisons. Perhaps TERB will have a few new members now. I hope they don't read this thread, else I loose all my privacy :(

TERB at Work ???

I never open up TERB or any non-related work site at work. It isn't worth the risk. Most companies due monitor internet use.

The Screensaver Password Protection is a good idea in general but not for this.

Most medium to large sized companies that have either their own IT department or contract out their IT functions monitor Internet use. Many will block out sites altogether if there is anything sexual or voilent related. They monitor it not just to see what you are looking at but how much time you spend on the internet when you should be working.

I will spend no more then 30 minutes a day on the internet at work. Usually its during lunch on my free time if I don't go out but occassionally I'll take 5 minutes every 2-3 hours and check the stockmarket.

Companies can fire you for not only what you look at on the internet but how much time you spend on it. If your spending a couple of hours a day (just a general statement and not directed at anyone particularly) then you haven't proven that you are "Gainfully Employed" and they could dismiss you.

I never surf terb at work.

That's why i have sympatico at home.

If i am on the road, i have a remote dial up service (beyond slow), but it has no link to my work at all.

If i am on the network, they know where i have been.

Our IT guy is a perv like the rest of us too, so there is one saving grace.

Still, not worth the invasion of my privacy.

On the road again

When on the road, I use the hotel business centre, or an internet cafe.
