Crazy. This was once a thriving city. Now it's a deserted ghost town with homes selling for peanuts.

See Roger & Me with Michael Moore, which was around the same thing on Flint, MI in the 80s.

You could make similar films (at various points in time) on Pittsburgh (steel), Baltimore (steel, shipping), Camden NJ (shipyard, RCA), and so on.

Some cities die; some rebuild.

Detroit started to sink after the race riots in the 1960's but unlike Chicago and other big cities Detroit kept losing people to the burbs. Detroit was stuck with the same no good mayor for 20 some years..Colman A Young..who him and his no good police force (well the chief for sure) just stole and "rape" the city...the FBI did get the chief of police and sent him to prison but they never got that mayor

8 years of Bushie killed what ever good was left of the place...now all the kings horses and men need to put it back together again, lol. (that is Obama and company but I'm having my doubts about him)
