Define Hobbyist..... just curious

I was just wondering … how would one define “Hobbyist” in the context of terb?

It’s used often – but what is the “paint-brush” meaning?

Someone whos hobby is partaking in the sex industry. It beats stamp and coin collecting, and it has its specialists, those who prefer strip joints over massage parlors for example.

I have also heard the term sportsman used for the same thing. I actually prefer that term.

In Britain they call a hobbiest a punter. Don't know where that comes from.

Another way of putting it - its a john who keeps going back for more.

I think hobbyist referring to a sex client is a new term, an on-line euphemism or doublespeak to be less offensive than a john which is more for those who seek streetwalkers. I never heard of the term before coming on TERB over a year ago.

Punter can refer to those who gamble as well as check out prostitutes in the UK, it seems to mean a regular guy or bloke as well - a pub would try to draw in the punters.

A hobbyist is one that participates in the adult enteratainment industry. Regardless if you are a patron of a strip club, if you frequent massage parlours, or if you book SP's (incall or out), you are considered a hobbyist. That is my definition at least.

Plenty of good definitions here, but I object to the "....will not replace...". I have had lots of the 'real', and I am NOT going back.
My favs are certainly 'real' and on average, they GFE me as well or better than almost all my civilians. Notwithstanding the good times and wonderful women (and I am glad I experienced most of it), this is better.

I have been married enough, dont want to do it again. Certainly dont want to co-habit ever again!
Dont need freebies. Frankly, I would feel bad taking their time if I were not paying, or bringing SERIOUS gifts. I also LIKE the clarity of relationship (i.e. I am BIG Daddy).
Never was keen on meeting family.
My family has met enough of my relationships over the years, no need for more.

It seems to me that my views are to some extent because I am an introverted thinker (i.e. vs an extroverted touchy-feely type).

n : a person who pursues an activity in their spare time for pleasure

Also according to Oxford dictionary, so it's universal. lol
