The virus is spread through physical contact and kills up to 10% of those infected. It seems there is a vaccine available – the same one for smallpox that is quite effective.

But there is not much is known about this variant yet. Could this be Covid 2.0?

Scientists are surprised that this virus is spreading around the world. They are investigating why it is spreading in the West

The world is a small place now. Most monkey pox transmission takes place re male to male sex.

Transmission is via body to body contact and exposure to bodily fluids of an infected person. Supposedly it is not airborne.

Some risk in the sex industry, but so far not much reason for terb members to worry, unless they are bi-sexual, or an escort or mpa somehow contracts the disease and passes it on to them.

Those of us over 50 probably were vaccinated for smallpox, which may still be a bit protective, but then again maybe not.

The current supplies of smallpox vaccine are quite limited, and would take some time to ramp up if monkey pox becomes widespread...

By in large, not too worry. Not airborne like covid, transmissible through close contact (hugging, skin contact, handshaking, etc). Unlikely to become a pandemic. Not deadly for adults but a risk to children.

In March 2021, NTI partnered with the Munich Security Conference to conduct a tabletop exercise simulating a global pandemic involving an unusual strain of monkeypox caused by a terrorist attack using a pathogen engineered in a laboratory.

NOTICE THE DATE. In “March 2021”, NTI conducted a Tabletop Exercise Reducing High-Consequence strain of monkeypox virus that first emerges in the fictional country of Brinia and eventually spreads globally Biological Threats “GO TO PAGE 10 IN THE DOCUMENT”.

Bill Gates said governments must get ready for future pandemics and smallpox terror attacks by investing billions in research and development.

Governments should be prepared for pandemic outbreaks. Bill Gates is not the only person who’s ever had those ideas, he is simply a guy you’ve heard of, so you watch his video.

Hollywood has these types of ideas in movies for years.

OP using the word ’deadly’ in the subject, stating it kills 10%...yet he posts,a link to an article that states what’s below. Did the OP read his own post? That’s fear mongering.

Officials highlighted that the risk to the general public is very low.

“Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by a virus that is normally found endemic in central and western Africa. It was first identified in monkeys, but its origins remain unknown,” TPH said in the release.

Symptoms of the virus include fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes and a rash that often begins on the face and spreads to other parts of the body.

TPH said that in most cases, people with a monekypox infection recover on their own without treatment.

There are differnt versions of monkeypox, it seems. Monkeypox kills up to 10%, but variations differ.

Monkeypox can be a nasty illness; it causes fever, body aches, enlarged lymph nodes and eventually "pox," or painful, fluid-filled blisters on the face, hands and feet. One version of monkeypox is quite deadly and kills up to 10% of people infected. The version currently in England is milder. Its fatality rate is less than 1%. A case generally resolves in two to four weeks.

Nobody is interested in more fear of an overstated risk of something that you are very unlikely to get, and if you do, you will certainly survive.

LONDON -
A smattering of monkeypox cases in Britain has prompted authorities to offer a smallpox vaccine to some healthcare workers and others who may have been exposed, as a handful more cases were confirmed in parts of Europe.

Monkeypox is a usually mild viral illness, characterized by symptoms of fever as well as a distinctive bumpy rash.

There are two main strains: the Congo strain, which is more severe – with up to 10% mortality – and the West African strain, which has a fatality rate of about 1%.
