As insane as it may be, Chairman Miller wants you to email your councilor telling them how much you want to pay MORE taxes to support his regime.

www.fairtaxes.ca

The only thing is, I can't find out how to read what everyone is posting. I gotta bet most people would be letting Chairman Miller know exactly what they think (though the NDP crowd maybe wanting to pay more.)

By my last calculation, I already pay 54% of my salary in taxes.

How much more does Chairman Miller think I should pay?

No consideration whatsoever has been given to reducing the 51,000 people on the municipal payroll.

You are absolutely correct. My mistake.

My NDP friends are quiet adapt at not paying the taxes they are supposed to pay now.

If the city of Toronto had it's books regularly audited then maybe just maybe I would change my tune on taxes. Not ONE administration has ever had or allowed the books to be audited which begs the question what are they hiding?
I wholeheartedly agree Frid as well as a review of where the money is actually going and whether it is worthwhile or not.

Sorry, but there are some services that T.O. provides that I don't think should come from the public coffers. Homeless shelters for one example. We live in a free market society where one works to make a living..IMO if you don't want to work, you shouldn't be living PERIOD. I say they should take all the money they spend on the homeless and put it into mental health facilities to care for those who can't care for themselves.

Anyhow, this topic has been discussed ad naseum here (and probably elsewhere) and no matter what we say or do, you can bet policians will continually raise our taxes, and continually spend them like there's no bottom in sight (until such a point where we donate 100% of our income to taxes and believe me, I can see that coming).

If you read that "contact your councillor" correctly there is a line that says "you support the fair tax plan" which you cannot change. If you send that notice that is what you will be sending. Even if you write comments below it, that message is what is going to be sent.

WE'RE THE AUDITORS....It's called an election.

Politicians regularly flout the very laws that they make everyone else follow....and you can't sue them for it. They're just vermin....too bad canadians don't take their role as exterminator seriously enough (municipal turnouts at election time in T.O. is, what, 35%?)

Fark Miller. The right thing to do is to vote that inept bag of excrement out of office.

Note to Sheik:

Attention Sheik.

I vote this as the most hilarious and most outrageous thread topic for the year.
