Danier Leather

Unsure if the lounge is the best place for this post - I'm looking to buy a leather jacket as a gift but not overly familiar on leather quality. Are Danier Leather products of quality? If not, any suggestions on where to look and what to look for?

I have been happy with the ones I have bought there. One that I have had for 15 years, I have slept in, in more airports than I can remember, and I had a new lining put into it last year.

I have few of there jackets there quality is ok depend where is in made the once are made in Canada it seem to last longer. I wouldn't pay anything over 200 at that place but matter what style of the jacket is. I have bought jacket there ranging from 100-200.

They used to be better... but as with all things, the quality seems to have diminished over the years... I looked at their stuff recently and was NOT impressed at all.

I can't speak directly to their leather goods, but I've had one person tell me that they often use hides stretched almost to the limit for their garments, which will lead them to tear and wear much more readily than a thicker skin, but will give a very soft. luscious feel to the coat.

Danier's style is 10 years behind trend. If the person you are buying for is ok with that, then for sure Danier is fine. Otherwise look elsewhere.

20 years ago, their coats were $500.00

But they were stylish and made in Canada.

Now, they are $200.00 and pretty much all made in China (though they will say, "Designed in Canada").

Having a Danier coat 20 years ago was a big thing. Now, meh.

I cannot remember the exact number, but I thought it was very reasonable, $60 or $80. It was a Danier bomber jacket.

They must have a shop here in Canada, for the re-lining of my jacket was done here.

my last leather jacket was from Harry Rosen ... absolutely top quality and up-to-date stylin. you get what you pay for

I think danier leather jackets are great value. For the price you can have several for different seasons and I think they are stylish for men. And for women that have fits that will fit and compliment any female figure.

Roots leathers from their store on Bloor are made in Canada from quality leather.

Also danier leathers are sourced from Asia but designed and sown here I believe.
