I suppose it's all in how you treat the material. Rape is suppose to be disturbing. Irreversable has perhaps one of the most brutal rape scenes I've ever seen and the the horror of it stayed with you even as the story rewound and got more pleasant. It's a very good film. I'd never watch it again and it's definatly not a date movie but it really set a feeling in me of how truely horrible rape is.

Same with war movies, it's all in how you treat it.
