These guys essentially use any of the wires installed by Bell years ago.
I've been connected since Saturday and HOLY $HIT, incredible!
...and I'm using their basic service for only $31/month.
It's equivalent to Bell's "high speed". $(40+month)

I can surf, download torrents at great ease.
With Rogers they capped their uploads/downloads.
I noticed my BASIC SURFING would be slowed down to a halt, almost non-existent.!!!

So if you're interested, check 'em out.
I found them out through www.broadbandreports.com (forums, tons of guys raving about them there).
Then I checked www.canadianisp.com (ontario) to see if I could get them.
OH and their tech support IN-FUCKING-CREDIBLE...answer fast and do callback if you have to leave your name and number.
No contract either, so I got 4 weeks left and I'll keep you posted.

Sounds like a great new set up. Although Im sure Bell and Rogers might have started out with rave reviews and then grew into the $$$$$ hungry non customer friendly giant they are now. Hope these new guys keep it real. Ill check it out once Ive learned to hook up my VCR. Thanks Cobster

having all the rogers slo down problems. capping has no affected me but my speed SUCKS! I actually think my dial up was faster lol. I do not have a phone line in my office (it's so nice to not be bothered) but do have a cable line. Would this still be an option for me? thanks cobster hopefully you can let me know and keep me informed. Also any modem rentals or other unforseen crap?

These guys have been around since '98, so they're not that new.
But, what's good is, if they fcuk up, no contract, I'm out.
Highly unlikely though, some of the reviews are 2-3 years old.
VCR? Pfff, get a PVR pal :p

Kara go to www.canadianisp.com, click on Ontario.
Select the kind of service you'd like ie - cable/dsl, etc. OH YA, choose the city you live in, then you'll get a chart of options.
You want to choose a provider that's been around for sometime and has at LEAST 30+ reviews and ratings. Ratings are out of 5.

Seems like for cable in Toronto, your options aren't that great.
Unlike DSL, try to get DSL =P
Modems, go through eBay or somewhere else.
Otherwise the providers will sell one to you via rent-to-own $100+ NOT worth it.

Just the cable modem costs.
They want $100 for a unit which you can buy used for $35 (speedstream) or any others.
When I find a reputable store or private seller that has some I'll let you know.
I'm still using my buddies speedstream and have to find one for myself soon, since he has to return this one to Hell Sympatico soon.
