I will be visiting Toronto in Aug/Sep does anyone have any nice hotel suggestions? I am considering staying just outside of Toronto as well. Is Mississauga nice?

Depends on your budget, your hotel/motel tastes, your transportation (car rental?) your Toronto plans during your stay etc. etc.. There are some good clean budget hotels in mid town Toronto also. Mississauga is nice, also with good hotel locations, but you are an hour's commute outside Toronto...probably longer in 'rush hour'. Check the yellow page on-line directory and other similar sites for the range of options available.
Enjoy your visit!

All excellent suggestions. If you expect a better answer, you will have to provide more details. How long are you staying? Is this a "working" visit (assuming you are a working girl)? What do you plan to see and do in Toronto? And, of course, what is your budget?

How are you getting here plane, car, rail or bus?

How mobbile do you plan on being, will you have access to a car or do you plan on depending on public transit or taxi?

These are all good thing to consider.

If you plan on working do you know where your clients are?

If you answer a few of those we might be able to help you further.

I am flying in and someone is supposed to pick me up however this is our first meeting so he could do a no show then I will rely on a taxi.

Well of course everyone likes 4 and 5 star hotels as they are nice but expensive. I could afford it but I am not rich and I would rather put my money to towards other interests on this trip. With that said I can’t stay in a dump either. I am looking at downtown but I am willing to stay further out if I can’t find somewhere nice and affordable. I need a place to be decent and clean.

If you are interested in taking the subway to look at the sites, walk around downtown and return on the subway to your hotel then there are a number of options.

If you wish to be close to the Airport then it will cost you more for taxis.

If your in Missisuage downtown toronto is a fairly large taxi ride (in trafic) away.

If you can narrow it down to that maybe some others can help with hotels in those areas. (I can looks some up but I don't use hotels much since I live here.)

Sorry I don't mean to throw a lot of questions at you.

Cheers.

Since when is Mississauga an "hour's commute"???? Holy shit, I guess if you're riding a bicycle or your car doesn't do more than 50 kph.....

Anyhow, IMO staying outside the core will save you (a little) on the hotel rate, but you will spend more on travel to the core. If you stay in the core, you'll pay a little more for your room, but your transportation costs will be minimal.

It all depends on how you want to travel and how far.

Questions:

1) How familiar are you with the city? Are you comfortable enough to take the subway? This will open up all kinds of hotels around the perimeter of the core but you don't have to travel to Mississauga to get a cheaper room.
2) Tavel to and from the airport: There are shuttle buses that many downtowm hotels offer to their guests at no, or minimal charge.
3) If you're into things like the museum, AGO, theatre, centre island, harbourfront etc. and plan on hitting them while you're here, stay in the core and walk to them. You'll save on transportation costs in the long run.

I'd suggest the Roehampton Best Western at Mt Pleasant and Eglinton. It is close to great shopping areas (yonge n or eglinton and Mt Pleasant south of eglinton). it is a short subway ride downtown to the core and has nice clean rooms.

I think it all depends on what your budget is and what your interests are. For eg: if this "meeting" doesn't work out?

Somewhere in France
Consider the Pantages - boutique hotel in the downtown. Very nice rooms and close to Yonge St. Cheap taxi ride to anywhere from there, and easy access through the lobby to elevator if you're having any guests.

You can check this listing of 171 Toronto hotels, listed in order of Star Rating:-

http://israel.hotels.com/sortProper...ooms=1&adultsPerRoom=2&childrenPerRoom=0&ID=4

Obviously the top half of the list is expensive, but there are some decent clean hotels in the bottom half that might fit the bill!
In considering price, the lower transportation costs and ease of getting around the city have to be factored into your decision! Good luck!

There are some better prices on that link THANK YOU. Some of the 4 stars are willing to come down to a reasonable price. It is amazing how they list a room at 160 then during the weekend jumps to 269 then Monday back down to 180. You think they would give a nice steady rate for staying a week.
