TORONTO — Animal cruelty charges against former senior Toronto Humane Society officials were dropped today.
The Crown announced in court that there were problems with how search warrant was executed.
The Crown says some of the problems include seizures that were too broad and the presence of the media at various times during the execution of the search warrant.
President Tim Trow -- who has since resigned his position -- and four other former senior managers faced various charges including animal cruelty and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
They were arrested in November during a raid by the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which called the facility a "house of horrors."
The shelter reopened in June with a new president and board, and the shelter's veterinary clinic has been reaccredited by the College of Veterinarians.
