Criminal background check........

For anyone if they have the knowledge.What procedures would one have to go through to do a criminal background check on an individual?......What , if any, information would i be entitled to? I have come across a few sites "pay" sites on the net but is there any public access to these types of records..If so, what details would be available to Joe public?

If you're looking to do a criminal record check on someone else (aside from yourself), you will be required to have their consent.

It's the same thing if you apply for a job where a criminal record check is requested, the applicant must make the request or give consent for it to be obtained.

By the way, I've had to submit criminal record verifications because I coach soccer with kids and run a development program. It's easy to obtain your own by going to a local police station and put in a request. It takes a few days and costs somewhere around $15 or $20.

But I take it you're trying to find out info on a third party. Don't trust your girlfriend?

No, A relative of my wifes has met someone new.Way too many inconsistencies in his past that have come out over the last few months.Was just curious how much of a hassle it was.I am surprised though that convictions for a crime would not be a public record in some way.

A backdoor method of doing this might be a newspaper search, if: you know where he has lived, the newspaper(s) that cover that area regularly publish court convictions, and practically that the newspaper is indexed or searchable.
