Credit Card Fraud

with the news of the debit card scam ring just busted and myself being very careful, naw it can never happen to me.

I just got a call from VISA and they told me some suspicious transactions popped up. I knew the transactions were not mine.

I have going through my credit card receipts and all the places I went to were very reputable places and not some gas station or small convenience store.

VISA fraud department said there was a duplicate card out there and the card was cancelled today.

It's a pretty easy scam. Any near minimum wage earner in the retail business can get a credit card number, and know specific details. I worked the industry as a young man (like many on this board have one time or another). Duplication in this day and age is quite simple with the technology.

My chequing account at CIBC has been rocked twice. The bank makes you sign a confidentiality form ( to keep things real quiet from press, ect.) and refund quick.

I love how some idiots dont want to give their CC on the internet, but will call into a callcentre thinking its more secure....news-flash retards, they are just logging onto the same website (most of the time) and doing the clicking for you....

Also, if you have an high CC limit which you hardly ever come close to maxing out on, think about lowering that limit so you dont find yourself in a deeper hole than you want to be in.

I've been scammed twice and know its a pain in the ass...just educate yourself before you start swiping everything everywhere you go...and dont let that CC out of your site...it does not matter if you are at Truffles or PizzaHut, know where your card is going.

it's too easy...

...to commit cc fraud.

The algorithm for creating valid visa and mastercard numbers takes about 5 minutes or less. So, a criminal does not even need to know who you are. If the cc number is valid, the charges will go through.

I never let the card out of my sight anywhere.

I have been only to a few places in the last 2 weeks, and none of the places were new places but places where I have done business before.

it inconveniences me but the cc told me a replacement will be on the way in less than a week.
