So, I got a call from Mastercard this afternoon that my card was compromised. Transactions were going on at an alarming rate a few days ago that they had to put a freeze on my card.

What puzzled me is why they didn't inform me about it a few days ago.

I asked what kind of transactions they were. Man, when I heard the details, it must be a or some sad pathetic low-life fucktard scumsucker bottom feeder losers. I can't imagine how these trash live their lives.

Hey, I believe in karma. Got to pay back in one way or another before they die.

Happened to me twice. Man, what a hassle. I was at a gas station and on empty and when I went to charge it the card was declined. I was like wtf?
From my experiences the crooks usually gather up info of dozens of card's then do a blitz on a Friday evening after banks close. I had to call my girlfriend to come give me some gas money. I now always carry at least $200. in cash on me all the time and have a few grand stashed at home. I don't want to go through that again. I don't rely on plastic anymore.

Have three c/c's and the one that has been compromised three times is MC, the one I used to use then most, the other two have had no problems at all. AM EX has never been comprised and from what I understand it's because of they have unique security protocols. They have a unique security algoritisms, where the other major cars have off the self algorithms. The cards companies will cover your unauthorized purchases, so don't worry. Make sure that any cards that have automatic charges are notified that you have a new card.

My RBC Visa card was cloned or compromised yesterday as well!

Apparently used at Autozone for various car parts i'd assume, and then they topped it off with a meal at Popeyes. I have never eaten or bought stuff at these businesses.

They called and left messages at my home and mobile phone, and the whole phone call took less than five minutes to confirm, go over fraudulent transaction, then cancel my card, and reissue a new one. Pretty amazing... when I live in the US about ten years ago someone was using my credit card at various gas stations, they require a written affidavit and then you get this notarized from a notary public, then send that in, then they review and cancel your transactions.

They've come a long way

I use to have a CC that had my face pic on it. My friend in NYC also had the same card with his face pic on it. One day someone stole his CC and used it successfully. The thief was Black, my friend is White. Guess photo ID is useless at merchants.

You could have lessened the down timely requesting it be sent to your branch by inter branch mail, two or three days max.

Yeah, but you are missing out on all those free reward points now that the banks are phasing AeroPlan out (because AeroPlan was too cleaver by half).

I have over 2.7 million Aeroplan points...I use the points to upgrade to class when travelling
I also have over 2 million AA points for the same purpose

Still... how many different rewards cards do people need???

1. use pin code verification on credit card whenever you purchase.
2. if you have to swipe a credit card, do it only at a reputable store.
3. try not to use instant tab payment.

I had my MC "compromised" three times in six months... and used at online gambling sites. Considering I never, EVER used that card, I eventually concluded it was an inside job. I had literally NEVER used it. Each time, they sent me a new card... and it would happen again.

It has never happened to my VISA or AMEX, and I use those cards all the time. My AMEX has been used in half of the banana republics in the world and I've never had a problem.

I cancelled my MC after the third time.

Yeah I've happily never had the aggravation of having a cc compromised. The banks are in a continual battle though with the legions of scumbags in keeping card security intact. About the only time I use mine is for an online concert or theatre ticket purchase or an Amazon e book download or through Google for a game or app for my smartphone and the card, intentionally on my part, only has a $1,000 limit. I know the banks indemnify holders for all unauthorized use but this obviously caps what could be scammed because ultimately the costs of fraud are passed on to the Bank's customers and merchants in card fees.

Happened to me a few times. Credit card company always sorted it out BUT it sure is a pain in the ass updating your new card number everywhere.

Now I use three different cards, one in my pocket, one for online purchases, and one for preauth payments.

This way when my card gets cloned I don't have to update the number everywhere.

OP, what types of things were they buying that made them low-lifes? Dunkin' Donuts?
You do not need to be a rocket scientist to know whoever steals, no matter how much it is, from someone else that he/she is a low-life scumbag.

The fact that you ask, some transactions are online gambling of various forms to the the tune of several hundred dollars.

I am wondering why you specify Dunkin' Donuts. Their donuts are good.

Heres a good tip, remove tap to pay for mastercard, or have a limit on it, cause if you lose your card..
