I used to live in Alberta and I HATED not having access to bagged milk. You buy a 3 pack, freeze 2 and keep 1 active. Saves money and you always have a fresh supply handy. I hated not having access to it.

The Canadian Forces as well as most other militaries actually bag water when they purify it. The ROWPU units (reverse osmosis water purification units) are boxcar-sized water purification systems that can produce 600 to 3000 gallons per hour of the cleanest water in the world, and the output is in bags. Saves space, easy to distribute, quicker.

I didn't know that we were supposed to rinse the empty bags and recycle them. Anyone else just throw them in the food garbage?

I throw them away, but if you've got one of those re-sealing units you can use that to recycle the bags...
