"female detectives were photographed in flirty poses...The response was "absolutely wild," Sano said. Even after female detectives upped their price to $200 an hour as part of a Veterans Day special, "we almost had people triple-booked" for appointments, he said."

who's got pics :)

I read that article -- what a typical crock of shit! What tough crime fighters these cops are. I betcha they feel like real heroes after a day of sitting around cushy hotel rooms and busting scantily clad women and very embarrassed men who very likely actually WORK for a living.

The real piss off, though, is the way this Sano cop justifies what he's doing by claiming that the prostitutes are victims. Yeah? And how is he helping them? By busting them? By increasing the stigma they bear?

He tugs at the heart strings with the story of the juvenile prostitute -- yeah, it would be interesting to know how busting her helped her. Chances are, this is a child who has been let down by her parents, other adult family members, teachers, counselors, case workers, and community. How does busting her address the circumstances that led her to prostitution in the first place? Any bets, if you come back in a year, two years, five years, that neither she nor any of the other "victims" supposedly helped by these cheesy cop stings are any the better off for it? I doubt if any will feel that being busted saved their lives. The kid will probably just get chewed up and spit out by the justice system, still not getting the help she needs, but now bearing the stigma and trauma of being arrested for the rest of her life.

Way to go, Seattle police! You guys are true knights in shining armor. Incidentally, my daughter lives in Seattle and her car was broken into last year. The cops did little more than take a report and shrug. Theft is a crime where there's a clearcut victim!! I'd like to know why they're wasting resources on supposed "crimes" stemming from antiquated and irrelevant laws in which they have to stretch the imagination to come up with a victim.

And as for the men busted in this sting? Doubtless being busted won't address the circumstances that led to their decisions to pursue prostitution. It will probably just drive them to the streets. Another wonderful strategy for the community!

Yeesh this stuff pisses me off!!!!
