Could You Play Gay?

I've seen 2 actors play gay kissing on the lips, lately. Once was in J. Edgar where Leonardo DiCaprio plays J. Edgar Hoover and Clyde Tolson kisses him and the other was the kissing scene in True Blood between Lafayette and some white dude kissing. I know it's just acting a role, but I doubt I could play gay no matter how good the role or how much money. Would you be able to play gay?

Lee Ang originally offered me Jake Gyllenhaal's role in Brokebutt Mountain which I declined.
I had thought the sex scene was going to be gross. But later when I found out that the ladies
in the film actually got to show more goods than the two male leads I regreted my decision.
To this day I am still kicking myself for missing out the $1,000,000 and top billing Lee had
promised me. No one not even the homophobes in their right mind would forego
that kind of money.
