I need to find a program that can convert DVD audio to MP3. There are many burning programs out there eg. NERO, but none of them say specifically that they can do this conversion. Can anyone help?:)

I use 'Sound Converter' with Linux. Not sure if it works with Windows.

Sound Converter takes DVD mp4 files and will easily convert it to mp3 from your choice of 128-320 bitrate, or your choice of several other file formats.

Is there something free, even on a limited basis? I too am looking for a Windows solution to rip the audio from some avi, mpg and wmv files. To MP3.

Actually, VLC, which is an A-grade video player is free as in beer and free as in freedom has a little known built in converter that should be able to rip the audio. It's under Media -> Convert / Save. VLC is available for pretty much every OS. I see an audio output option there-- and the website has good documentation.

edit: No guarantees though. Linux guy. YMMV.

MP3myMP3 Recorder

Works pretty good with Windows.
Used it a few years ago.

MP3myMP3 Recorder saves any audio you hear on your computer straight to mp3 or wav. If you can hear it you can record it!

Record internet radio and save to mp3 or wav. Record from any source. Rip Vinyl, rip CD's, batch rename, create playlist and more.

This program is distributed as freeware!

This is a great app that effectively bypasses all the RIAA and DRM BS.

PS:
Linux has Sound Recorder which is much easier to use than MP3myMP3 Recorder.

I found something!! Check out Magic DVD Ripper. It's o.k. I guess, it does what I want it to do, I'm not a program expert by any means, but check it out and see how you like it.
