Considering a visit

Just thought I would add my two cents on this topic.

While it is not fair to write off an entire city, I will say from my experience in Ottawa three years ago that I would definitely not go out of my way to visit there. Perhaps if I have other purposes for being there I would take a few clients, but I would definitely not visit solely for the purpose of working.

Last time I was there, granted it was for only 2 days three years ago, the amount of no-shows and jokers was astounding. Not one single client turned out. I wasted money on a hotel room. Furthermore, when I posted my "touring" thread I got insulted by a few assholes who are offended by my size.

But then again my experiences with touring would make any SP not even consider it. Three years ago I took 2 months and travelled around Canada to see clients. I was 19 at the time and thought that touring would be much better then staying home. At the end of it all I had to call my mother to send me money to get me home!! I think in that entire two months I saw maybe 8 clients out of all the clients I booked. I now generally work close to where I live. I don't even consider touring in Canada. I have toured in the past two years, but only to Dallas, Houston, and San Francisco. All cities that have a proven track record for me.

I'm not sure what bug crawled up KWI's ass but she sure is going out of her way to trash Ottawa. As has been mentioned several times there are MANY touring SP's that return time and again and have a great time here ....... but KWI won't even acknowledge that little tidbit. Even the one SP who appeared to come to your defense admitted that she won't tour anywhere in Canada, it's all the same as here. So there goes your "Ottawa is the worst" theory.

If someone from Ottawa did you wrong, go piss on them. Trying to be the SP savior warning SPs about the terrible times that await them here doesn't seem to be working, the touring SPs are still coming and making all the money no one seems to want to throw your way.

If you came to the Ottawa section to try to impress anyone I don't think it's working out too well. And your warning to Maya seems to be going unheeded (that's what brought you here to start) as she has said she has had lots of interest.

If your reasons for posting here are as stated they don't seem to be working. I'm sure you can work up a good hate for someone or something else, so give that a whirl, OK? I think the northern Ontario section needs a good whack in the head!

I think the situation in Ottawa today is much different than it was a few years ago or even last year.

Since our nemisis Mark Maskill is no longer in the picture the ratio of no show and last minute canceled calls in Ottawa seems to be better based on what other SPs are reporting.

The Luv sisters even reported this summer they didn't have single no show appointment while the two of them ( Gabrielle and Michelle I think) were in town. No doubt they have a list of regulars, but they've also built that list of regular and happy customers because they're a little better at business side of things than most.

I also think most people would not be comfortable giving a deposit to someone they don't know. Many of us including me have been burned by an SP no-show or canelation. A referal system would be more effective.

Giving a prefered list of customers (based on referals) a two day window to book appointments before advertising availability to the general public would go along way to solving the problem.

Wow - there is definitely some anger and passion in this thread. It is very unfortunate that Ottawa has gained a reputation for a city of no-shows! At times I have been frustrated because I was not able to get an appt with a touring SP because they were completely booked. It happened with Harmony and just this Monday with Francesca - tried to book but in both cases told sorry no appts left. Then they get tons of no-shows. I was tempted this time to give Francesca my cell number and ask her to call me if she got any no-shows but work was too hectic. I agree that the returning SPs have more success as they start to build a reputation and a reliable list of customers. KWI - sorry you feel the way you do. There are alot of good apples here in Ottawa you just need to be patient and weed out the bad ones. However, I do agree that if you are only coming here once in a blue moon then the effort to sift through the crap is probably not worth it. Too bad - I like your fiestiness!! Lets all hold hands and take a deep breath - there, feel better now??

Good advice from Alexa. Different areas would require a different approach in the way the girls carry out their business.

Some girls that tour, do quite well, but they have to be organized and offer something that is different, or be seen as somehow special.

Maya's thread ... and her original questions ... have been all but completely hijacked. First she asked about a visit, and then she asked about deposits to reserve an appointment. The comments about the rate are fair IMO, but instead of sticking to the substance of those points, this has turned into a rambling discussion of how bad Ottawa is for pre-booking. There are only two posts I think that address her deposit question (mine above, and Twizzlers' great idea in his post). Both the guys and the ladies could help on those points.

I ask anyone to go back and read this string and consider whether we have done ourselves any favors here. I think Maya can still come in and "rescue" this string, but she may have given up.

There is no point in trying to force whatever booking procedures a lady has become accustomed to in Toronto, on her potential customers in Ottawa.

It is interesting to hear stories of failure, and they have value in that you learn what not to do. From a lady who works sucsessfuly in Ottawa.

The SP, as a business person, has to adapt to the new area, and work with the customs in that area. It makes no sense to complain about the different customs, or try and force customers in that area to adjust to whatever business practices you want them to follow, with deposits, etc.

well i love Ottawa despite the few no shows i had which were quickly snapped up by a few good men.
i have learned not to post a thread asking for interest in anyone seeing me, as all it does is attracts the ass holes.
as for a deposit if you need to ask for one it really isn't worth going not many will hand over personal info or their hard earned money to make you feel comfortable enough to visit.
now having said that weed through the few posts you have made in regards to a visit and pick the men who find your rates acceptable and are interested in seeing you. get to know them by way of sp chat there are quite a few nice men there and they will treat you well. if your worried about no shows ask for an sp reference to ease your mind.
the touring thing isn't for everyone! yes you have to put out in more ways than one, but if you approach it with an open easy going mind not filled with bitterness because of past bad fortune you will do great and have a hell of a time.
