This supports what I've been saying, this is a feminist issue - look at the gender gap. Women don't want you to be able to rent what they want you to buy....

It's a feminist, political and religious issue. Considering the headwinds it faces from those with agendas, I'm incredibly surprised decriminalization has the level of support it does!

The Happy Hookers here need to focus less on the Male Cons they are obsessed with and more on their female constituents. .

not always sure...
Politicians are slimy.
Why do you say that?.
Because politicians are slimy.

MacKay's office commissioned the Ipsos-Reid poll as they were drafting the current bill. An email from the Polling firm to MacKay's office indicated that the results of the scientific opinion poll "may not show what you want it to…" and MacKay promptly buried the results and has not released them to this day. The article confirms they only have the results because of a leak.
After burying this report MacKay quickly rolled out his "Public Consultation" - a non-scientific poll designed to get maximum response from the religious right, and the rest is history. MacKay trumpeted the results of this biased consultation as being "the opinion of Canadians".

To repeat, politicians are a slimy breed who frequently lack moral fibre.
We can only hope that with the further charges against Mike Duffy today, and the Conservatives quickly responding by throwing him further under the bus, that the Senate is pissed off enough to refuse to cooperate with pushing this bill through unopposed. The distancing from Duffy has appeared to touch a raw nerve with many of them.

The polls are slanted because they lumped "johns" (clients) with pimps. They intentionally loaded the questions to skew the polls as they stacked the committee hears to present a their view to the Canadian public.

… and prostitution with human trafficking.
Exactly, trafficking, pimping , kidnapping, assault as far a I can remember have always been illegal but this government keeps trying to lump everything together to fool the public and some have drank the kool-aid. We need well spoken, articulate escorts/mpas's who do not mind being in the public eye coming out and screaming out loud that this is their chosen profession and not be apologetic about it.. As for clients we are being demonized and unfortunately the public will not take us serious.

This is what I don't understand. It's not like the poll showed overwhelming support for decriminalization. The sample was split (and in fact supportive of certain key premises like clamping down on exploitive aspects). The poll didn't help them, but it didn't hurt them either.

The fact that the sample was divided largely along gender underscores the political capital at stake here. That's what JT has his eye on.

The liberal government voted against the bill. The Liberal Sean Casey who participated the Committee meetings stated the Liberals would not recommend amendments because the bill "is a train wreck".

It amazes me how conservative folks are still trying to prop up Harper and his band of hypocrites. I made the mistake of voting for these assholes once and it will never happen again!

They are making a criminal out of you. What good is it if he puts a few extra pennies in your pocket policy wise if you're wasting it on lawyers trying to defend yourself because you reached out for some intimacy to a willing young adult in need of a few $$$?

T.O.
The Federal conservative government has manipulated and falsified the polls making outrageous false claims that overwhelming majority of Canadians support their proposal and bill C36, It is the conservative politicians and Harper regime and its cabinet in particular the injustice minister Peter Mackay who are slimy breeds much worse than other politicians and liars and manipulators and arrogant dictators and regressive and repressive and I hope their reign of terror comes to an end and they will be eliminated in 15 months worse than what happened to them in 1993, the next time Canadians go to polls in the fall of 2015.
They can go fuck themselves. I hope they burn in hell (which I'm sure they no doubt believe in).

We'll see how many missing or dead prostitutes gets reported in the news under this law. I hope Harper and the Conservatives can live with themselves and sleep at night (never mind they probably will). Sorry for the fear mongering.
