I can't do a system restore nor can I access XP in safe mode. I think I got a virus. I just want to save my pics, i dont care if i loose the rest.

Can you boot up with an alternate boot device (ie. diskette, CD)?

If you can go into your bios change boot sequence to cd/dvd 1st in order. Try running a live distro of linux which can read windows files. Then see if you can extract your "stuff" to an external. Or get a cheap drive put that into the machine load windows. Then put the old drive into an external case and transfer to the new drive or extract. I hope this helps or offers you options

Follow this very good post but instead of a live Linux CD, use this one.
